Matrix Food Arena & Catering is located in a small unit just behind 12 Chatsworth Road. It's run by a very friendly lady called Mrs Oluwakemi Awosika, who is originailly from Nigeria but arrived in London 10 years ago together with her husband. She says she is been given a gift by God and that is to cook. She can recreate anything she tastes and cooks Nigerian food to eat in or take away. Customers can bring their own drinks if they prefer something alcoholic. She also caters for big parties.
Her friend Lady Remcee comes to help out sometimes. Lady Remcee says "People come here to eat real African home cooking". Beside helping out with the cooking she promotes African music in London. Running a food business is hard work - Oluwakemi works six days a week. She sources all her products locally; Gregg's and Agbo-Sabo on Chatsworth Road, Ridley Road market in Dalston and the big African supermarket Wanis on Lea Bridge Road.
She thinks Chatsworth Road is a bit quiet and lacks patronage. "We need to raise awareness," she told us, and she thinks the market is a good promotion.
UPDATE JULY 2012: UNFORTUNATELY MATRIX NO LONGER EXISTS.
